Nicki Saunders serves as the Title III Coordinator at the Virginia Department of Education, where she has worked since 2019. Before joining VDOE, she was a middle school science teacher with Chesterfield County Public Schools, where she piloted Sheltered Science classes for Level 1 and 2 English Learners. Her experience spans birth‑to‑adult education, including work in adult ESL and roles as a middle and high school content teacher serving exclusively at‑risk student populations. In addition to her state-level leadership, she is an adjunct instructor supporting Career Switcher candidates in both content and language instruction. Nicki is passionate about ensuring that every child’s dreams and goals are attainable through access to high‑quality, inclusive education.
