About me
Johnetta Lofton is an experienced Family and Consumer Sciences educator with 32 years of service in North Carolina public schools. After retiring, she returned to the classroom and is currently in her second year with Franklin City Public Schools in Franklin, Virginia. She serves as the founding Early Childhood Education teacher at the newly established J.P. King Jr. Career and Technical Academy, where she designed, developed, and implemented the entire program from inception, establishing a high-impact model for excellence in the classroom. Ms. Lofton has a track record of preparing future educators through hands-on, experiential learning and strong literacy integration. Her work focuses on equipping students with the skills, creativity, and instructional strategies needed to engage young learners in meaningful ways. In her session, Bringing Literacy to Life, she shares practical strategies for making literacy interactive, developmentally appropriate, and impactful in early childhood settings.
